YAKCO ZQ45 does not attempt to replace real metal; rather, it uses industrial methods to extract the most captivating aspects of metal while filtering out the most troublesome elements. It retains the luster and texture, while eliminating the high processing costs.
The metallic texture is rendered in 3 dimensions—by incorporating metal powder into the printed decorative paper, causing the melamine-faced panels to shimmer with glow under light, by creating a layered tactile touch through the surface texture, featuring both a horizontal satin finish and a vertical brushed finish.

Traditional metal decorative panels are often made with aluminum foil laminates, which are prone to bubbling and peeling over time and are susceptible to scratches and warping during transport. ZQ45 uses a high-temperature, single-step lamination process; the brushed metal and horizontal satin textures are pressed into the surface rather than laminated onto it. This results in a more stable structure and more reliable transport.

A Design Approach Rooted in the Essence of Materials
The starting point for the ZQ45 was not to imitate metal, but to understand the very essence of what makes metal so captivating—its luster, texture, sense of order, and sense of strength. We have translated these visual elements into the melamine-faced panel system, achieving a metallic aesthetic while retaining the soft beauty of wood-based panels.
Constructing a Three-Dimensional Texture System
ZQ45 uniformly embeds micron-sized metal powder particles into the decorative paper layer; when light strikes the surface at different angles, the particles create an interwoven effect of diffuse and directional reflections. The horizontal texture softens the light and reduces glare, while the vertical brushed texture enhances a sense of direction and speed, with the two effects overlapping.
Material Performance Analysis
ZQ45 supports nine types of substrates, including LSB, SOSB, MDF, HMR MDF, fire-retardant MDF, PB, fire-retardant panels, wood veneer, and plywood. Each substrate has distinct characteristics in terms of density, internal bond strength, nail-holding capacity, and moisture resistance.
Designers and manufacturers can flexibly select the most suitable substrate based on specific applications—such as wall cladding, cabinet doors, and countertops—without having to sacrifice performance for the sake of surface aesthetics.
Among these, the LSB substrate uses a large-chips oriented layering process, offering excellent dimensional stability and making it particularly suitable for large-sized cabinet doors; HMR MDF and fire-retardant MDF provide reliable options for commercial spaces with high humidity or high fire-resistance requirements.
ZQ45 employs a high-temperature, high-pressure single-step pressing process. The temperature is controlled between 160–180°C, with pressure at 20–25 kg/cm². This production method fundamentally eliminates quality issues such as bubbling, edge curling, and surface problems.
Environmental and Safety Performance
The entire ZQ45 series has passed E0, E1, and P2 environmental certification, with formaldehyde emissions far below international standard. The melamine material itself contains no harmful substances such as heavy metals, and its surface is resistant to bacterial growth, making it suitable for kitchens, medical facilities, and children spaces.
