The greatest environmental threat to basements is humidity.
Moisture from the soil penetrates through the walls, and during the rainy season relative humidity often stays above 80% year‑round. Ordinary particleboard swells in thickness after absorbing moisture, causing cabinet doors not to close, wall panels to warp, and edge banding to pop off.
A swelling rate means that even in long‑term high‑humidity environments, the thickness change of the YAKCO substrate is minimal, and the dimensional stability of the panels is extremely high.

Basement walls are prone to condensation in summer; during “returning south” weather, the air becomes saturated with humidity and water vapour condenses on the panel surface. Grade 4 means that under continuous spraying with 100°C boiling water vapor, the surface shows no blistering, no delamination, and no discoloration.
In real conditions, brief condensation attachment will not penetrate the decorative layer, let alone cause the decorative layer to detach from the substrate.
Compared to ordinary decorative panels (vapor resistance Grade 3‑4), which often show edge peeling and surface blistering after six months in a basement, YAKCO’s Grade 5 provides long‑term moisture protection for basements.
3.Resistance to surface staining Grade 4: Mould spots, dust, cleaners– wipe clean in one go

Even with waterproofing, basements may still develop mould spots due to poor ventilation. Wall dust, cobwebs, and occasional water seepage marks all need cleaning.
Grade 5 means that mould spots, dust, and diluted cleaners can be removed by wiping with a damp cloth – no staining, no residue.
The light‑and‑dark texture of the rock grain itself has a certain “dirt‑hiding” advantage– slight stains blend into the pattern and are inconspicuous.
For basement conversions into gyms or children’s play areas, children’s handprints and marks from sports equipment can also be easily wiped away.
4.Surface wear value 35 mg/100r: Cleaning tools and storage collisions do not wear out the surface

A wear value of 35mg/100r means that even with daily friction, the thickness loss of the decorative layer on the rock grain surface is minimal, and the texture remains clear without becoming “worn white” after many years.
5.Substrate support: The “stable chassis” of the basement
