YAKCO MATERIALS (JIANGSU) CO., LTD. introduces ROCK Design Melamine Board, a surface solution that translates the visual depth and tactile character of natural stone into a high-performance board material for contemporary furniture and interior applications.

Natural stone has long been associated with permanence, sophistication, and architectural character. Yet in modern furniture and interior manufacturing, designers are increasingly looking for materials that can capture the visual and tactile qualities of stone while offering greater consistency, processing convenience, and suitability for everyday use.

YAKCO ROCK Design Melamine Board responds to this demand by bringing stone-inspired aesthetics into a melamine board format. Inspired by the visual language of materials such as marble, granite, slate, sandstone, and other mineral surfaces, the collection focuses on more than stone-like appearance. Through deep embossed surface structures, it creates a more dimensional relationship between light, shadow, texture, and touch.

From Stone Appearance to Tactile Experience

A convincing stone-inspired surface is not defined by color alone. The interaction between decorative pattern and physical texture is what gives the material its sense of depth.

YAKCO ROCK Design Melamine Board is developed around this principle, combining carefully designed stone patterns with embossed surface structures. The result is a surface that allows the grain, relief, and visual rhythm of the design to work together, creating a more natural and immersive material experience.

This approach also expands the design possibilities of stone aesthetics. Instead of depending on the weight, irregularity, or processing limitations often associated with natural stone, designers can introduce a stone-inspired language into furniture, cabinetry, wall applications, and other interior elements through a more standardized board-based solution.

Designed for Modern Furniture and Interior Applications

For designers and manufacturers, material selection is not only about visual expression. Surface performance, dimensional consistency, fabrication requirements, and long-term usability are equally important.

YAKCO’s tested surface-decorated particleboard product provides a technical reference for these performance requirements. According to Test Report No. 25-0494 issued by the Wood & Wooden Product Testing Center of Nanjing Forestry University, the tested 18 mm board sample passed evaluations covering mechanical properties and a range of surface-performance characteristics. The tested items included bending strength, modulus of elasticity in bending, internal bond, thickness swelling, moisture content, density, screw holding capability, resistance to high-low temperature cycles, scratching, wearing, cigarette burns, dry heat, staining, cracking, and vapor.

Among the reported results, the sample recorded a bending strength of 29.8 MPa, internal bond strength of 0.36 MPa, 2-hour thickness swelling of 1.0%, and a surface wear value of 57 mg/100r, with the tested items recorded as passing their respective requirements.
The same report also recorded passing results for resistance to cigarette burns, dry heat, surface staining, cracking, and vapor, supporting the suitability of the tested surface-decorated board for applications where both design expression and everyday surface performance matter.

A New Material Language for Stone-Inspired Design

ROCK Design Melamine Board is positioned not simply as an imitation of stone, but as a reinterpretation of stone aesthetics for contemporary manufacturing.

Its design direction allows the visual complexity of natural mineral surfaces to be translated into a more controlled and repeatable decorative format. Depending on the application, stone-inspired surfaces can help create environments ranging from understated and architectural to warm, textured, and highly expressive.

For furniture manufacturers, this opens new possibilities for cabinet doors, storage systems, wall features, display units, hospitality interiors, and other customized applications where surface design plays a central role in the overall visual identity.

YAKCO: Connecting Natural Inspiration with Engineered Surfaces

At YAKCO, material design is built around the idea that modern surfaces should not stop at looking natural—they should also create a convincing tactile experience while meeting the practical requirements of furniture and interior manufacturing.

With ROCK Design Melamine Board, YAKCO continues to explore the intersection of natural-material aesthetics, advanced surface texture, and engineered board performance.
