The surface layer of a board must not only be “beautiful”, but also “durable”. In daily use, furniture surfaces face challenges such as temperature changes, scratches from sharp objects, and long-term friction and wear.

Surface Resistance to High-Low Temperature Cycle – Withstands Thermal Shock, Prevents Cracking and Blistering

1.What is surface resistance to high-low temperature cycle?

This test simulates the surface stability of a board under extreme temperature differences. Typically, the specimen is subjected to alternating cycles of specified high temperature (e.g., 70°C) and low temperature (e.g., -20°C), then examined for cracks, blistering, discoloration, or wrinkles. This index is especially critical for applications in areas with large temperature fluctuations (e.g., near kitchen stoves, balcony cabinets, furniture close to heaters or air-conditioning outlets).

2.
YAKCO’s performance:

National standard requirement: No fissure, no blister, no change of colour, no wrinkle.

YAKCO tested result: No fissure, no blister, no change of colour, no wrinkle – fully meets the standard.

This means that even under thermal shock conditions such as seasonal changes or frequent air-conditioning switching, YAKCO decorative panels maintain a smooth, intact surface layer, without being “disfigured” by sudden temperature changes, preserving their initial appearance for a long time.

Resistance to Surface Scratching – Withstands Daily Contact and Sharp Objects

1.What is resistance to surface scratching?

This test uses a stylus with a specified load to scratch the board surface, observing whether continuous scratches are produced. The standard requires that under a certain force, the surface shall not show more than 90% continuous scratch.

The higher the force value, the stronger the scratch resistance. For high-contact areas such as tabletops, cabinet doors, and countertops, scratch resistance directly determines whether the furniture is prone to “scars”.

2.YAKCO’s performance:

National standard requirement: ≥1.5 N, the surface without more than 90% continuous scratch.

YAKCO tested value: 1.5 N, the surface without more than 90% continuous scratch – Pass.

Under the standard load of 1.5 N, YAKCO decorative panels show only slight and discontinuous marks. Light scratches from daily use (keys, zippers, toy corners, etc.) do not leave obvious traces, effectively extending the “youthful period” of furniture.

Resistance to Surface Wearing – Withstands Long-Term Use and Cleaning

1.What is resistance to surface wearing?

Wear resistance is evaluated by rubbing the board surface with a rotating abrasive wheel, checking whether “show-through” (i.e., wear through the decorative layer) occurs after a specified number of revolutions, as well as the wear value (mg/100r).

The lower the value, the better the wear resistance. For frequently touched surfaces such as tabletops, counters, and public space furniture, high wear resistance is the foundation for maintaining a “non-faded” appearance over years of use.

2.
YAKCO’s performance:

National standard requirement (plain colour): No show-through after 350 rotations; wear value ≤80 mg/100r.

YAKCO tested result: No show-through after 350 rotations; wear value only 57 mg/100r – better than the standard limit.

This means that YAKCO decorative panels can withstand longer periods of wiping, friction, and daily wear in actual use.

The surface decorative layer is not easily thinned or damaged, making them especially suitable for high-frequency use environments such as hotels, restaurants, and shops.

Combining Artistic Style with Durable Surface

Based on the above solid surface physical properties, YAKCO’s Art Deco Melamine Board integrates geometric lines, metallic textures, and symmetrical aesthetics into the decorative design, while inheriting the excellent genes of resistance to temperature cycling, scratching, and wearing.

Typical application:
1.High-end hotel lobby feature walls: Large-area Art Deco patterns remain flat and crack-free under temperature fluctuations, and daily foot traffic does not fear scratches.
2.Light-luxury style cabinet doors: Fine geometric textures withstand repeated opening and closing friction, no show-through after long-term use, and consistent gloss.

3.Art commercial space display stands: Frequent placement and movement of merchandise do not wear away the surface pattern; cleaning and wiping need not worry about surface damage.

4.High-end residential living room TV background: Under alternating hot and cold air-conditioning environments, the surface layer does not blister or discolour; paired with the unique metallic lines of Art Deco, it enhances the spatial quality.

YAKCO specializes in the R&D and manufacturing of high-quality Melamine Faced Board

With reliable surface physical properties and a rich variety of decorative styles, YAKCO serves the hotel, commercial space, residential, and public facility sectors.
